Responsibilities

Hexagon is seeking a talented and experienced Technical Manager to work as part of a multi-faceted team supporting our large and technically-sophisticated Geospatial based Utilities and Communication solution suites. The successful candidate will act as a Technical Manager in the organization, responsible for managing and delivery of Utility and Communication projects. Candidates will work with customers/stakeholders, the development team and program management office to evaluate designs and solutions; perform requirements analysis and functional decomposition, system design, and software design of complex algorithms, interfaces, and business logic on multiple platforms and ensure that proper software engineering principles are followed by the development and implementation teams. Candidates will hire and train staff or help make hiring decisions, supervise information technology (IT) staff, consider project proposals and evaluate feasibility, generate ideas for improving technical products and work with his/her direct reports for their professional growth. 

 

The candidate will have considerable experience with programmatic customization of various GIS product suites, with emphasis on the development and implementation of Utility and Communication industry solutions.

 

The candidate will have intermediate to advanced knowledge and skills in software architecture as well as application and database development associated with enterprise desktop, web and mobile solutions. The ideal candidate has worked previously as a scrum master, development manager, product manager, or project manager in a GIS enterprise application development environment. Work experience and familiarity with n-tier applications using Microsoft application development environments (.NET) and Oracle database technologies is very beneficial. The candidate will interpret and administers Company policies and procedures. Work experience involving the financial tracking and management of software projects is also desired.

Qualifications

  • A completed Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (ABET program accreditation preferred) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related technical field is required. Master’s Degree in Computer Science (or related technical discipline) or Business Management preferred
  • 7+ years of actual development experience working on complex web-based software projects
  • 5+ years of experience managing software development teams and/or technical implementation teams as a technical manager, product manager, or scrum master
  • Strong background in object-oriented programming (OOP) and the software development life cycle
  • Sound problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • USA Citizen or permanent resident required
