Hexagon is seeking a talented, experienced lead developer to join its multi-faceted team developing and supporting our large and technically-sophisticated Geospatial and Transportation solution suites. Candidates will work with customers and stakeholders to evaluate designs and solutions; perform requirements analysis, system design, software design, and the coding and testing of complex algorithms, interfaces, and business logic on Windows platforms. Candidates will contribute to system specification efforts, develop and integrate solutions, interact with customers to present solutions, complete site acceptance tests, and move systems to productive operations. The ideal candidate will mentor junior project team members. The candidate will interact directly with project managers and technical leads on development projects, and will be responsible for developing significant portions of solution applications. Candidates may also provide support to sales efforts through customer demonstrations and prototypes, and through leading technical interactions with client staff, presenting Hexagon technical capabilities to prospective customers.


Assignments will be in one or more of the following areas: web based user interface, web services, mobile and field application deployment and/or development, windows services and desktop application software development for related geospatial markets. Under general supervision, the candidate will perform assignments of moderate to high complexity in the design, development, integration, implementation, deployment, and support of geospatial applications The candidate will work with customers to gather detailed requirements for implementation and development tasks, write test plans and workflow training documents, and may conduct tests on new software.


The candidate will have advanced knowledge of Internet and mobile-based application software architecture and development as well as intermediate SQL experience. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the use of web based development languages (.NET, Extensible JavaScript, AngularJS, PL/SQL, JavaScript, HTML) as well as GIS software usage and concepts. Advanced knowledge of web service, single page application development, and design patterns such as MVC and MVVM is highly desirable. Knowledge of, or experience in the transportation (DOT) and local government industries is a plus. 


Assignments require the use of independent judgment and the application of implementation best practices and programming/software principles, theories, and concepts.  The candidate will serve as a key member of a team of software development professionals, and will be responsible for the technical leadership of that team.


  • A completed Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (ABET program accreditation preferred) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related technical field is required. Masters Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline preferred.
  • 5+ years of development experience working on complex projects.
  • Experience with JavaScript (ExtJS) and C# in a Microsoft Visual Studio environment
  • Strong background in object-oriented programming (OOP) and the software development life cycle
  • Expertise with the following technologies: HTTP, WCF, ASP.NET Web API, XML, JSON, PL/SQL
  • Sound problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to lead a team of software development professionals in the attainment of common goals and objectives
  • USA Citizen or permanent resident required
