    Responsibilities

    A consulting engineer for Hexagon Utilities has worked directly for a utility in the field of operations or design, with an emphasis of hands-on use of IT solutions for business automation. This person relies upon knowledge of the industry and is abreast of current market trends and conditions which aid to identify business opportunities. The selected candidate will support sales through business development by providing technical presales and contributing to marketing of solutions. Key activities are listed below:

     

    • Serves as technical resource for all U.S. Utilities and Communications presales activities, serving as the lead for demonstrations, benchmarks, and developing software prototypes
    • Consults with utilities to identify how our products and solutions can solve their business problems and qualifying opportunities
    • Understands position of Hexagon solutions within the marketplace in comparison with direct competition to identify positive differentiators or gaps in standard industry functionality
    • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, contributes toward the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
    • Presents to and consults with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to develop new services, products, and distribution channels
    • Identifies opportunities for new products, partnerships, acquisitions, marketing campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales
    • Supports lead generation activities such as trade shows, conferences, and user group meetings
    • Produces thought leadership content for regional collateral, presentations, customer testimonials, press releases, blogs, and social media
    • Participates in industry functions, such as associations, review boards or other organizations that are directly related to business unit solutions with intent to provide feedback and information on market and creative trends
    • Stays current on latest industry trends and relates relevant information pertaining to our solutions to management team
    • Reviews all proposals to provide technical position on potential response during the bid strategy process

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university required
    • Emphasis of degree in power systems preferred
    • Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer certificate preferred
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in power industry either directly for an electric utility or in a role serving that industry
    • Preferred knowledge of distribution power systems, utility operations, GIS, design
    • Superior verbal and nonverbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex context to a wide range of audiences
    • Must be self-motivated and possess effective time management skills
    • Advanced Microsoft Office / Office 365 tools, Word, Excel, PowerPoint & proficient in other aspects of Office
    • Travel requirements 25%
